Sullubawa:

The Sullubawa are a Fulani clan in Northern Nigeria, the current ruling houses of Kano and Katsina belong to the clan and another amongst the four ruling Houses of Zazzau Emirate.

They are also found in Kano, Katsina and Sokoto states. They are said to have originated from Futa Toro, in what is now Senegal, and are associated with the Torodbe (Toronkawa). They played a key role in the Fulani Jihad led by Usman dan Fodio, which founded the Sokoto Caliphate. Sullubawa clansmen became “hereditary beneficiaries of all positions of authority in all but one Hausa state”. In the 19th century, the Sullubawa controlled many of the fiefdoms of the Kano Emirate. This changed however following Nigerian Independence in 1960, which saw their influence reduce. Members of the Sullubawa later attained positions of power in the new federal structure of Nigeria.
