Committed to the socioeconomic integration and development of the African continent, do you know that in April 2017, the Buhari administration began the construction of the Nigeria/Cameroon joint bridge at Mfun community in Cross River State, and is on track to be commissioned before the year 2021 runs out?

The bridge, which is a better replacement for the collapsed one that was built about 50 years ago by the General Yakubu Gowon administration, is expected to fulfil Nigeria’s commitment to the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) aimed at facilitating better trade among the partnering nation.

Apart from easing the movement of persons and goods across the markets in the two nations, this bridge will also facilitate better border patrols for both countries, thereby enhancing the prospects of better border security, which then makes the investment in this particular infrastructure very worthwhile.
