On the 13th December, 2022, Katsina state government announced the unceremonious sacking of the Vice-Chancellor of Umaru Musa’Yar’adua University, Professor Sanusi Mamman and the erstwhile chairman of the university’s governing council, Professor Mu’uuta Ibrahim.

The vice-chancellor’s trevails started with a report published by a Katsina based on-line media, Katsina City news and The Link. The medium published a report of an investigative findings it made about the many allegations made against the person of the Vice-Chancellor chancellor, Professor Sanusi Mamman.
Part of the allegations include his financial impropriety, maladministration and moral issue surrounding his alleged relationship with a female students.
Soon after the publication of the report the governing council of the university launched a wide scale investigation on the matter. At the conclusion of the investigation the council presented it’s findings to the university visitor, who is the governor of the state.
With the report submitted to him, Governor Masari used the power vested on him to set-up a visitation panel to investigate all activities related to the university. The visitation panel swings into action and at the completion of their investigation submitted their report to the visitor.
To do justice to the report, the visitor set-up a white paper committee which review and study the findings of the visitation panel and made recommendations to the government.
Receiving the report, the visitor, Governor Aminu Bello Masari vowed that the government has the political will to do the needful to bring the university back on track.
On Wednesday 13th December 2022 the state executive council met for over five hours deliberating on the white paper report.
In the end the erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sanusi Mamman and the chancellor, Professor Mu’uuta Ibrahim became the first casualty of the white paper report.
