Negotiations to mend the cracks within Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Katsina State have ended in dead lock as conflicting parties failed to reach a unanimous stand.
Alh. Lawal Rufa’i Safana the chairman reconciliation committee of PDP a gyara faction stated this when he addressed journalists at a press conference held on Saturday 18th September, 2021.
Recall that, the impasses between the party members begun shortly after the last PDP state congresses when some aggrieved Members ( PDP Agyara) approached the state high court to seek redress for being excluded in the process leading to the emergence of new leadership of the party.
According to Rufa’i, the state high court judgement was in their favor, a development that led to the dissolving of the said PDP congresses and a fresh Congress was directed for the inclusion of the aggrieved members.
” The court had also directed that the purpoted elected executives under the erstwhile congress should stop parading themselves as state PDP executives. He added.
Following the dissolving of the executive committee members, a reconciliation move to find a common ground and resolve issues of contention led to the creation of committees from both sides which sat severally and an agreement was reached and drafted to resolve issues but the dissolved party leadership eventually breached the agreement. Alh. Lawal Rufa’i furthered.
According to him, his faction, the PDP Agyara has accepted to continue with the court cases since it has no choice as it however insisted that the continuation of the court processes will not augur well for the PDP family in the state as 2023 election keeps approaching nearer.
Alh. Lawal Rufa’i Safana therefore advised the national leadership of the party to amicably intervene in the matter for the interest of the party.
