The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Katsina State Council, hereby felicitates with the Muslim Ummah as they mark Eid el-Fitr, 1443 A.H.

The council congratulates Muslims for the successful completion of the thirty-day Ramadan fast and the peaceful Eid celebration.

We pray Allah (SWT) to accept our fast, supplications, night prayers, acts of charity, and other acts of worship during the month while urging Muslims to sustain these acts of piety in other months of the year.

The council particularly expresses its deep appreciations to the Kanwan Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, for providing _Iftar_ food and drinks throughout the month for worshippers that broke their fast at the NUJ Secretariat Mosque in Katsina.

We also commend the state and federal governments as well as security agencies for sustaining the fight against armed banditry and kidnapping which resulted in relative peace in security flashpoints across the state during the fasting period.

With politicking on top-gear as the 2023 general elections approach, the council urges journalists in the state to avoid overheating the polity through negative or sensational reportage of the political process.

We also urge them to be guided by professional ethics and provisions of the law in reporting political activities in order to consolidate the peace being enjoyed in the state.

Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali
*Chairman, NUJ Katsina State Council*
