The management of the Katsina State pilgrims board has urged the state immigration command to assist with the smooth take-off of its new Umrah operations.
Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, the Executive Director of the board made the call when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to the comptroller of immigration, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Muazu on Thursday.
Kuki who expressed appreciation for the level of cooperation existing between the board and the command urged the immigration boss to assist the board in ensuring the desired internationally accepted standard of its new Umrah operations.
Umrah operation which is expected to take off soon, in its master plan involves short and long term plans to ensure its success.
With the experience of the command in international travel regulations, the pilgrims boss said the NIS would assist by appointing capable officers to manage and advise the board appropriately.
“The officers would also help to review and update the draft partnership agreements between the board and the appointed firm before its submission to the Justice ministry for final vetting.
He further requested the service to provide its personnel to conduct effective screening of prospective Umrah pilgrims during the registration exercise.
He added that the board intends to partner with the max airline and utilise the Umaru Musa Yar’adua international Airport katsina for the airlift of Umrah pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Director of the board however commended the National Hajj Commission and other relevant bodies for their relentless support to improving Hajj Operation in Katsina State.
Responding, the Comptroller of Immigration, Katsina state command, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Mu’azu assured the board of the command’s readiness and support towards the actualisation of the Umrah operations in the state.
The immigration boss also commended the state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari for the enormous support and assistance been extended to his command.
