Katsina Allocation: Salaries, Pension Consumes 50 Percent- Masari

KATSINA- Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state on Monday disclosed that, 50 percent of the state monthly allocation goes to the payment of salaries and pension.
Masari made this disclosure at the opening ceremony of a six days sensitization and capacity building workshop on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPAS) Implementation for Accountants and Auditors in Katsina.
Masari represented by the state Commissioner of budget and economic planning, Alhaji Faruq Jobe said of the average of N6bn received monthly by the state payment of salaries and pension consumed N3.1 bn.
According to him, going by the
growing population of the state, government is concious of managing the meagre resources accruing to it.
The Governor therefore urged the participants to make good use of the workshop to improve their capacity in ensuring judicious and transparent use of resources.
Alhaji Anas Malik, the state Accountant General, in a remark, said the state had already adopted the IPAS standard.
He added that the state has been publishing the state audited account which he said has promoted transparency in the managing of state resources.
Malik applauded the Governor Masari, whom according to him had never interfared in their job and for supporting the workshop.
