BATAGARAWA (MALLAMAWA) DISTRICT
A hunter called Batagarayi after whose name the town was said to have derived its name established Batagarawa.
After the Jihadists conquest, Sarkin Katsina Ummarun Dallaje gave the whole of Batagarawa land and some quarters in Katsina city as a “gift” to Katsina’s prominent
Islamic scholars (Malamai). That was why the District was sometimes called “Mallamawa District”. In 1901, Sarkin Katsina Abubakar appointed Alkali Dalha son of Alkali Hambali as the overall head of the Mallamawa He died in 1910. After Mallamawa Dalha, fiefdom.
Mallamawa Ummaru son of Sarki Dikko ascended the throne but was later transferred to Tsagero.
In 1914, Malam Sayyadi was appointed the third Mallamawa. He reigned at Doka town west of Abukur town on the Katsina-Kano road. In 1916, Mallamawa Abubakar, another son of Sarki Dikko succeeded to the throne, but was also transferred to Tsagero. In 1923,
Mallamawa Ibrahimn son of Mallamawa Dalha was appointed the fifth Mallamawa.
In 1941, Mallamawa Murtala son of Mallamawa Ibrahim was appointed and he was succeeded in 1965 by Mallamawa Shawai. Mallamawa Bara’u Dalhatu succeeded to the Mallamawa throne in 1976 and on his death, the present Mallamawa Muhammadu Dikko Dalhatu was appointed on 3 July 1996. Until his appointment, he served as a principal of many Secondary Schools and as an educationist per excellence. He also served in an oil company as a senior executive.
KAITA DISTRICT
Kaita District is situated in the north-eastern side of Katsina city. It consisted of Hausa and Fulani tribes with farming and animal husbandry as their major occupation.
Old Kaita town was believed to have been built by the Fulani and Hausa over 1,000 years ago.
When the Sullubawa ascended to Katsina throne, Sarkin Katsina Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko transferred the Sarkin Sullubawa” title from Zandam to Kaita and appointed Malam Shehu as the Sarkin Sullubawa. He was succeeded by Yarima Abdu (son of Sarki Abubakar), followed by Abubakar Dogo and then Ummaru, son of Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Dikko.
In 1928, Waziri Haruna a friend and close confidant of Sarki Dikko was appointed, but with the title of “Sarkin Kaita”. So far, he had been the only one who ruled Kaita with the title of “Sarkin Kaita”. Others bore the titles of
Sarkin Sullubawa” or “Magajin Kaita’
On the death of Sarkin Kaita Haruna in 1937, Sarkin Sullubawa Usman Liman was appointed who was in turn succeeded by Muhammadu Sada Nadada in 1939. Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Fari ascended to the throne in 1944 and he was succeeded by Sule Nakulema in 1961. In 1965, Alhaji Hussaini Usman ascended to the throne and died in 1988. The incumbent, Alhaji Abdulkarim Kabir Usman was appointed on 15” May 1988. He was born in 1952. He attended Kaita and Kayalwa Primary Schools, Katsina Teachers College, College of Education Kafanchan, and Medical Auxiliary School, Kaduna Before his present appointment, he served briefly as a Primary School Teacher, Worked with a Kano based private Company and served as Press Secretary to the Katsina Emirate Council.
YANDAKA DISTRICT
Malam Muhammadu Na-Alhaji was among the principal 1804 Jihad leaders in Katsina Kingdom. After the wars, he gained control of the southwestern territory consisting of the ancient towns of Zakka, Tsaskiya, Karofi, Kwanni, Ummadau, e.t.c. Yandakawa ruling dynasty.
He is the progenitor of the present Na-Alhaji was succeeded by his son Muhammadu Dikko who ruled from Kwanni town with the title of “Magajin Malam”. He was later confered with the Yandaka’ official title by Sarkin Musulmi Muhammadu Bello in Yandaka Abdulkadir Namoda succeeded Dikko in 1840. Yandaka Abubakar son of Muhammadu Dikko succeeded to the throne in 1842. He was succeeded by 1822. his brother Hassan in 1845. Hassan, who established Tsauri town and ruled from there, was succeeded by his brother Suleiman in 1870. In 1871, Sada-I was appointed as the sixth ‘Yandakan Katsina. After him was Yandaka Zubairu 1877-1894. Followed by ‘Yandaka Mani 1894 – 1928.
In 1928, Sarkin Katsina Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko turbaned Sada-II as the ninth Yandakan Katsina. It was Yandaka Sada who transferred the Yandaka District Headquarters from Tsauri to Dutsinma tOwn. In 1940, Yandaka Shehu ascended to the throne and after him was Yandaka Lawal (1942-1958). After Yandaka Lawal was dethroned, Mallam Abdullahi Maikano was appointed as the twelfth Yandaka 1n 1959.

Muhammad Gidado Balan Gwaggo Yandaka
Muhanmmad was turbaned as the thirteenth Yandaka in 1979. He was born in 1928 and had his education from 19341949. He was a member of Federal House of Representatives from 19591966 and a Parliamentary Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works. He was turbaned as Sarkin Shanu in 1967, a member of the Katsina Native Authority in-charge of Finance and Administration (1969 – 1974); Chairman Dutsinma administrative area (1974 – 1975) and commissioner for agriculture in former Kaduna State (1975 -1976). He was a Chairman/member of many religious, educational and social organizations and a Chairman/Board Member of several Federal and State Parastatals.
