A gang of bandits on Wednesday evening stormed Danmusa, Katsina State, and killed a former director with Katsina Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Yaro Lawal. Punch reports

Residents said the bandits stormed the town in about one hundred motorcycles with four of them riding on each cycle.

It was learnt that the bandits attacked the town shortly after the Magrib prayers (7pm) when Muslim faithful were breaking their fast, ordering the former civil servant and other victims to follow them.

A resident revealed, “He (Lawal) was met alongside some few people at the front of his house which is a stone throw from a police station. They (bandits) asked him to climb one of the motorcycles and follow them but he refused. They subsequently shot and killed him.”

Another resident said, “Most people in the town ran for their lives as soon as the rampaging bandits drove into the town. The few, who stayed watched helplessly as bandits shot Alhaji several times.”

The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.
