FULL POLICE STATEMENT ; ON 1/2020
ARREST OF THREE MEMBERS OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF BANDITS/KIDNAPPERS AND RECOVERY OF RANSOM MONEY, THE SUM THREE MILLION AND SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA (N3,600,000,000:00K: On 25/02/2021 at about 13:00hrs, Police Patrol Team, attached to Faskari Division, while on routine patrol along Funtua – Yankara road, accosted the trio of (1) Lawali Duna, ‘M’. aged 40yrs, (2) Muhammadu Lawali Babuga, ‘M’, aged 22yrs and (3) Hussaini Abubakara, ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Kunkurmi village, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara state, notorious members of syndicate of bandits and kidnappers terrorizing Katsina and Zamfara states. Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were intercepted on their way back to Zamfara state from Kaduna after collecting ransom money from the relatives of a kidnapped victim. In the course of investigation suspects confessed to the commission of the offence.
ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS MEMBER OF KIDNAP FOR RANSOM SYNDICATE: On 22/02/2021 at about 16:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Usman Ahmed, ‘M’, of Sabon Barka Road, Dandume LGA of Katsina state, a notorious member of kidnap for ransom syndicate. What happened was that on 22/02/2021, suspect anonymous called one Rayyanu Musa, ‘M’, of Gangare Quarters, Dandume, through his GSM line and intimidated him to go to Birnin-Gwari forest and deliver money to them, the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000:00k) or risked being kidnap. In the course of investigation, suspect was trailed and arrested. He confessed to the commission of the offence. But said he did it out of play. Investigation is ongoing.
BEING IN POSSESSION OF NIGERIAN CURRENCY SUSPECTED TO BE COUNTERFIET: On 24/02/2021 at about 12:45hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Abba Ibrahim, ‘M’, aged 21yrs of Duwan village, Mani LGA of Katsina state in possession of thirty-four (34) pieces of one-thousand-naira denomination suspected to be counterfeit. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.
ARREST OF A MEMBER OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF BANDITS/KIDNAPPERS/CATTLE RUSTLERS: On 22/02/2021 at about 15:00hrs, the Command succeed in arresting one Umar Abubakar, alias “MAKWA”, ‘M”, aged 27yrs of Tigga Ligyal village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state, a notorious member of bandits and kidnap for ransom syndicate terrorizing Faskari, Dandume and Sabuwa LGAs of Katsina state and Zaria of Kaduna state. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to belong to the camp of one notorious bandits’ leader “MUMMINI” (now at large). He further confessed to have participated in series of kidnappings, the recent being that of Sabuwa and Zaria LGAs of Katsina and Kaduna states in which the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000) and Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000) were respectively collected from the victims’ family. He also confessed to have participated in cattle rustling at Dansabau, Maru LGA of Zamfara state.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS: On 22/12/2021 at about 20:00hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded arrested the duo of one Suleman Haruna, ‘M’, aged 18yrs of Gidan Dawa Quarters, and Suleman Dahiru, ‘M’, aged 18yrs of Barhim Round, Katsina, who attacked one Saddiq Halliru, ‘M’, of Goriba Quarters, Katsina with dangerous weapons and forcefully robbed him of his motorcycle Jincheng motorcycle, valued N200,000:00 and Samsung mobile handset valued N60,000. In the course of investigation suspect confessed to the commission of the offence along with the following suspects: 1. Suleman Haruna, m, aged 18yrs of Gidan Dawa Quarters, 2. Suleman Dahiru, m, aged 19yrs, Barhim round, 3. Mohammed alias “Ball” 4. Aliyu akuas “Dan Ali 4. Isah alias “Dan Isa” 5. Yusuf alias “Yubza” now at large. Investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF NOTORIOUS INFORMANT, RECEIVER OF RUSTLED COWS FROM BANDITS AND RECOVERY OF TWO (2) STOLEN COWS: On 26/02/2021 at about 1400hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Yusuf,l ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Magaji Wando village of Dandume LGA, in possession of two suspected rustled cows at Sheme Market, Faskari LGA of Katsina state. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have specialized as informant to bandits and also in receiving rustled cows from the bandits in Faskari, Dandume, and Giwa LGAs of Katsina and Kaduna states respectively. Two stolen cows were recovered in his possession. Investigation is ongoing.
JOINT POLICE-MILITARY OPERATION RAIDED SUSPECTED BANDITS’ CAMPS, NEUTRALIZED NINE (9) BANDITS, BURNT NINE (9) BANDITS MOTORCYCLES AND RECOVERED ONE AK47 RIFLE WITH FIVE ROUNDS OF 7.62MM AMMUNITION: On 26/02/2021 and 28/02/2021, the Command in collaboration with Nigerian Army, jointly raided bandits’ camps at behind Guzurawa and Garin Gambo villages, both of Safana LGA of Katsina state, a notorious bandits’ enclaves. The operation succeeded and neutralized eight (8) bandits, recovered nine (9) burnt motorcycles, and one Ak47 rifle with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The onslaught against the menace of banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping and other heinous crimes is ongoing.
FOILED BANDIT ATTACK AND RECOVERY OF ONE AK 49 RIFLE WITH THREE (3) MAGAZINES: On 17/02/2021 at about 17:00hrs, DPO Kankara and team responded to a distress call that bandits, in their numbers, shooting sporadically, attacked Zango village, Kankara LGA. The team had a fierce gun duel with the hoodlums and over powered them. Consequently, the bandits fled and abandoned one AK 49 rifle with three magazines. Investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF A NOTORIOUS FRAUDSTER AND IMPERSONATOR IN MILITARY UNIFORM: On 22/02/2021 at about 11:00hrs, Police Patrol Team, attached to Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Katsina Police Command, while on routine patrol arrested one Sa’idu Ahmed, ‘M’, aged 24yrs of G.R.A. Nasarawa LGA of Kano state, a notorious fraudster and impersonator in military camouflage. In the course of investigation suspect confessed to have defrauded and deceitfully collected a Peugeot, 206, blue in colour, with its documents from one Umar Abba, of Kwalam Motors, Obasanjo road, Kano state and came to Katsina with intent to dispose same. Investigation is ongoing.
