The Chairman, Senate Committee on TETFUND and Tertiary Institutions, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, has today at the plenary of the Nigerian Senate, submitted his committee report on the Bill to establish Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State.

In his submission, Senator Babba Kaita stated that based on views expressed by stakeholders at the recent public hearing on the matter, “the university of transportation would be of immense benefits in filling the gaps in knowledge acquisition, technological transfer and socio-economic indices”.

He also stressed the timeliness of establishing the university of transportation because of its “potentials of resolving the critical issue of unemployment by taking care of the manpower needs in Nigeria’s transportation and particularly railway sector”.

Kaita further emphasised that the university when established would also “improve the spread of educational infrastructure in Nigeria”.

In conclusion, the Senate Committee on TETFUND and Tertiary Institutions through Senator Kaita, recommended the consideration and passage of the Bill for an Act to provide for the Establishment of the Federal University of Daura, Katsina State and for other matters connected therewith, 2022 (SB 7
