FEDERAL GOVERNMENT URGED TO EXTEND ZAMFARA OPERATIONS TO KATSINA.

Katsina State government has called on the federal government to order for similar operations taking place in Zamfara forest to be carried out simultaneously in Katsina and other affected States.
The Secretary to the government of Katsina State Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa made the call at the state pilgrims camp when he received 20 kidnapped victims including a 5 day old baby girl who escaped in the hands of bandits after spending about 5 months.
The call is contained in a press release signed by Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, Director Press to the Secretary to the government of the State.
The victims comprised of 5 nursing mothers and their infants, one young man and nine (9) children ranging from four to ten years whom escaped following an airstrike on their abductors’ den in Zamfara State.
Mustapha Inuwa directed the medical team from the state primary healthcare service to reexamine their condition and ensure their safe return to their families at Katoge community, Batsari Town.
The SGS also directed the permanent secretary cabinet and security to provide financial support while state emergency Management agency to provide the victims with food items.
He attributed the rescue of the victims to the current military occupation of the forest and stringent containment measures adopted by the affected States in the north west.
Narrating her ordeal, Sahura Haruna one of the victims who delivered a baby 5 days ago, said they were 28 kidnapped by the bandits from their houses at Katoge in Batsari Town, sometimes in April 2021.
‘I was kidnapped when I was just five month pregnant and about six of us were released on payment of ransom and two kids died of starvation and other untold hardship. She explained.
On how they escaped, Sahura said ” last Thursday morning, an aircraft stroke which dispersed the bandits and that paved the way for us to escape. We ran until we arrived at a village in Birnin Magaji where we were handed over to the security agents who took us to the authorities in Gusau”.
