Members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Katsina State have expressed dismay over a query letter written by the State Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sanusi Ali, addressed to the State Women Leader, Hajiya Binta Ado Sandamu, accusing her of anti-party activities.
The nine SWC members led by the party’s State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Lawal Uli and Vice Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Mai Iyali,
made their position known in a letter adressed to the party Secretary, dated February, 2.
The SWC members noted that the State party Secretary does not have the powers of the State Working Committee or the State Executive Committee by taking a decision on disciplinary measures to be taken against any party member at the State level.
They tasked him to abide by the provisions of section 59 (2) of the PDP Constitution as amended, and avoid serving as a parallel power beside the party’s SWC or SEC.
“Recall that you had also single-handedly authored a letter dated 13th November, 2023 wherein you purportedly appointed “Substantive Vice Chairman for Katsina North Senatorial District (Daura Zone) in a high-profile anti-party activity and blatant breach of the Constitution of the party.
“We wish to draw your attention to the pending court actions presently before the Katsina State High Court and the Federal High Katsina Division on the status of leadership of the party in Katsina State and your illegal appointment of Substantive Vice Chairman for Katsina North Senatorial District.
“Therefore, in the circumstances, Hajiya Binta Ado Sandamu cannot appear before you, and you lack any power or authority to ask her to appear before you for anything; the matter is clearly subjudiced and if you make another attampt to commit contempt of court, we shall not hesitate to commence contempt proceedings against you”, the letter affirmed.
The Katsina State SWC members asked Alhaji Sanusi Ali to explain within 48 hours why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for engaging in anti-party activities.

Other signatories to the letter include the state PDP Organising Secretary, Youth Leader, Legal Adviser, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary and Women Leader
Meanwhile, the letter was copied to the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, as well as the National Legal Adviser.
