KATSINA – The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has been condemned for turning the Kano-Katsina-Jibia international route linking Maradi in Niger Republic into a death trap.
The agency responsible for the maintenance of the trunk ‘A’ road has been engaged in digging deep holes with the intention of repairs along the route and leaving them without asphalting it for safety purposes.
According to the official, the union had advised the agency against digging deep holes for several kilometres without embarking on the necessary repairs to avert this unnecessary loss of lives on the road.
The official lamented that the abandoning of the deep holes on the major highway has caused huge losses to their members whose vehicles fall into the potholes left behind by the agency.
