The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has certified the victories of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kwara and Ondo states, as well as that of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, received the collated results from the State Collation Officer for the Presidential Election (SCOPE) led by the states resident electoral commissioners (RECs) on Monday at the national collation centre in Abuja.
Prof. Paul Annune who is the Kwara State SCOPE and Vice Chancellor of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State, announced the results accompanied by the state REC, Malam Attahiru Madami.
According to him, APCs Asiwaju Tinubu won in all the 16 local government areas of Kwara State.
The APC’s candidate polled 263,572 while the candidate of the PDPs Atiku Abubakar followed with 136,909 votes.
The Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, scored 31,166 votes to come third while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate, Engr. Rabiu Kwakwanso, scored 3,141 votes.
He also said that the number of registered voters for the election were 1,695,928 while the accredited voters were 497,519.
Total valid votes, he said were 469,971, rejected voted were 26,712 and total votes cast were 496,683.
In the same vein, the Osun State SCOPE and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, announced that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar won last Saturday’s presidential election in the state.
She said that while Atiku polled 354,366 to win the state, APCs Tinubu scored 343,945, LPs Obi garnered 23,283 and NNPP Kwankwaso recorded 713 votes respectively.
Prof. Ogunsola said that a total of 756,744 votes were casted, with a total of 733,203 votes were considered valid votes while 23,541 votes were rejected.
In the third state announced on Monday the Ondo State SCOPE and the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fashina, said that APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed won the state with 369,924.
Prof. Fashina also said that that the PDPs Atiku Abubakar came second with 115,463, while the LPs candidate Peter Obi came third with 47,350.
He added that total registered voters was 1,991,344 while the total number of accredited voters was 571,402.
He said that the total number of valid votes was 551,008, rejected votes 19,009 and the total vote cast was 570,017.
He said that the canceled results were in four Local Government Areas with 11 polling units PUs and 5,363 registered voters.
He said that the canceled results in the affected PUs were due to over voting.
