Bandits have abducted at least 13 people in different attacks on some communities in Katsina State.
Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that bandits laid siege at Low Cost and Project Quarters of Dutsen Reme, Bakori Local Government Area of the state on Friday night and abducted four people. Ahmed Ridwan, a resident of Dutsen Reme Low Cost, said the bandits took advantage of the rainfall and executed their mission unchallenged. Malam Lawal Hamisu Maska, who was absent when the bandits stormed their house, said his co-tenant, Bishir Shitu Sallau, a staff of High Court, Funtua, was abducted along with one Safiyanu, a student of College of Education in Abuja.
At Project Quarters, it was learnt that they abducted one Lauratu Jibril and hers tepdaughter after her husband, Malam Jibril narrowly escaped. Safarau Sanusi, a younger sister to the victim, said the bandits were at the quarters at 9:45pm.
Lauratu is newly married to Jibril and she spent not more than 30 days in the house
before her abduction. When her husband sensed danger, he quickly jumped the fence and escaped, she said. In a related development, bandits numbering over 20
invaded Kabomo village in Bakori Local Government Area and abducted six people,including two pregnant women.
Salima Lawal, a co-wife of one of the victims, said the bandits struck about midnight on Tuesday August 30. When
contacted,the police spokesman in Katsina, SP Gambo Isah, promised to
contact the divisional police officer of the area and revert. But as at the time of filing this report, he was yet to confirm the incidents.
