On the 16th of March, 2019, a correspondent of Daily Trust in Katsina at that time, Umar Habibu wrote a story on a visit to the birthplace of President Muhammad Buhari called Dumurkul.

On 8/7/2021, the Katsina state Governor Rt Aminu Bello Masari sent a matter of urgent public importance for the state Assembly to change the status of Dumurkul from a village in Koza District to a full pledge District in Mai’aduwa local government.
On 26/7/2021, the Katsina state House of Assembly has approved in an emergency sitting that Dumurkul be made a District henceforth.
