Dr. Bishir Gambo appointed as Registrar Meteorological Institute of Science and Technology, Katsina.
Until his appointment, Dr. Bishir Gambo was the head of the Environment in the office of the Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He was at various times the Commissioner for Rural Social Development, Youth and Sports, and the Special Advisor on labor and productivity to the Governor of Katsina State.
He was a One-time General Manager of the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) as well as the Project Coordinator of the NEEM Processing Plant of the National Research Institute of Chemical Technology (NARICT) Zaria.
He was also the Senior Special Assistant (Political) to the late Umaru Yar’adua when he was the Governor of Katsina State. At different times he was engaged as a part-time lecturer at the Al-Qalam University Katsina and Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.
Earlier on he was elected Katsina Local Government Chairman after his stint as a Councilor. Dr. Gambo was a consultant to the Katsina State Government and the Federal House of Representatives on disaster risk reduction and oil spill clean-up and remediation respectively. He was also a member of the inter-departmental committee on the review of the 1999 constitution in the 9th assembly.
Dr. Gambo holds a Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Extension and Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, and a Doctorate Degree in Environmental Science.
He is an independent researcher interested in any phenomena that are influenced by human action and climatic variations, particularly in the Savannah Grassland.
He published works on Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment, Desertification and Livelihoods, Evaluation of Soil Erosion using USLE, Spatio-temporal Vegetation Cover Change, and Conceptual frameworks in land degradation settings. He was turbaned the Jakadan Magajin Garin Katsina in 2000 and the Garsan Fulani (1) 1n 2009 by His Royal Highness the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman. He received letters of appreciation from the Katsina State Government, NARICT (Zaria), and HUK Polytechnic for services rendered.
