PRESIDENT BUHARI FLAGS OFF THE FIRST COMMERCIAL WHEAT FARMING IN NIGERIA! Visit our Facebook Page
With an eye on continuing with the economic diversification agenda of his administration, and with more determination to sustain the current dominance of the non-oil sector in Nigeria’s GDP, do you know that President Muhammadu Buhari has just recently flagged off the first ever commercial wheat farming in Nigeria?
The flag off took place on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Wheat Seed Multiplication Farm at Kwall town in Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, where wheat farmers from across the country gathered to witness the historic event that has the ability to turn Nigeria into one of the major wheat producers of the world.
And very importantly, considering that agriculture accounted for 22.35% and 23.78% of the country’s GDP in the 1st and 2nd Quarters of the year 2021 respectively, the commencement of wheat farming in such a large commercial scale in Nigeria will certainly move the needle forward in agribusiness contributions to our economy.
The consequence of this feat is the fact that the fortunes of our wheat farmers will turn around for good, with the expanded possibilities of more jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities in the wheat value chain for our population. As such, this investment in wheat farming is undisputably an excellent economic decision.
Yes, Nigeria is on track!
