@Do you know NG
Considering that maize is a major staple on most dining tables across Nigeria, plus the fact that it is also processed into livestock feeds and many other useful industrial purposes, do you know that the Buhari administration has embarked on the acquisition and distribution of mechanised tools to maize farmers to enable them cultivate the crop on an industrial scale?
This much we got to know when on Sunday, November 14, 2021 the Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN) commended the administration for assisting its members with cash loans through the Anchor Borrowers Programme to purchase Combined Harvesters and Mini-Harvesters so that they could boost maize production in the country.
With the acquisition of these mechanised tools just in time for the commencement of the next maize farming season, which commences in as early as January next year in some places, it is expected that the narrative of maize farming in Nigeria will change from that of subsistence to export-scale standard.
And while this upgrade will certainly boost the financial fortunes of these mechanised maize farmers, it will also multiply the inherent benefits of the crop’s value chain in Nigeria’s economic climate, which will eventually prove that the administration’s investment in that sector is a wise decision.
Yes, Nigeria is on track!
